The President Hotel is seeking a skilled, creative, and guest-focused Mixologist to join our dynamic Food & Beverage team.
Based at our newly renovated Pool Area--the heartbeat of Cape Town's most loved destination--this role is perfect for someone who combines artistry, precision, and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities
Beverage Creation & Service

  • Craft high-quality cocktails with precision, flair, and consistency.
  • Innovate and develop signature cocktails aligned with brand standards and guest expectations.
  • Adjust recipes according to guest preferences while maintaining drink balance.
  • Use expert knowledge of spirits, infusions, garnishes, and modern mixology techniques.
  • Ensure correct glassware, garnishing, and beverage presentation for every serve.
  • Apply responsible service of alcohol policies at all times.
Guest Experience
  • Deliver personalised, warm, and professional service at the bar and surrounding seating areas.
  • Engage guests through storytelling, ingredient knowledge, and pairing suggestions.
  • Anticipate guest needs and tailor beverage recommendations to elevate their experience.
  • Handle guest concerns calmly and efficiently to maintain satisfaction.
  • Build rapport with regular guests, creating a welcoming and memorable environment.
Revenue Generation
  • Actively upsell premium spirits, crafted cocktails, and unique beverage experiences.
  • Support bar activations, themed events, and promotions to increase sales.
  • Contribute to achieving individual and departmental revenue targets.
Bar Upkeep & Operational Excellence
  • Maintain an immaculate, organised, and fully stocked bar throughout service.
  • Restock spirits, mixers, garnishes, and equipment as needed.
  • Ensure equipment functionality and report issues promptly to the Bar Manager.
  • Uphold strict hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards.
Inventory & Stock Control
  • Assist with daily stock counts, monitor usage trends, and record wastage.
  • Support stock rotation, ordering, and maintaining accurate inventory documentation.
  • Adhere to all storage, temperature, and product handling standards.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Matric certificate (Grade 12)
  • Minimum 2 years' mixology or bartending experience in an upscale bar, lounge, or hotel environment
  • Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, infusions, and modern beverage trends
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage high-volume service
  • Strong attention to detail with a passion for creative presentation
  • POS operation and cash handling experience advantageous
  • Must be of legal drinking age and eligible to serve alcohol
  • South African ID or valid work permit essential
