Candidate requirements:

  • At least 3 - 5 years of Management Experience in a 5-star boutique safari lodge/camp
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Competent financial and IT skills
  • Energetic, proactive person with a well-developed concept of the importance of providing a world-class guest experience, and the ability to provide that experience
  • Passionate about sustainable tourism and conservation
  • Driven, energetic, compassionate, and ambitious, with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Unrelenting attention to detail and high standards
  • Practical with some experience in maintenance
  • Experience in mobile camping and safaris is advantageous
  • Open-minded and able to think outside of the box
Key responsibilities:
  • Overall management including operations, guest experience, kitchen, financial and staff management and development
  • Direct line management responsibility for the senior management team and indirectly for a team of staff
  • Budget and forecast creation, management and control in conjunction with the Lodge Administrator and the Regional Finance Manager.
  • Human capital management and staff development
  • Infrastructure - development and maintenance of all infrastructure
  • IT - maintenance IT
  • Security - security, emergency response and fire control
  • Healthcare - reviewing healthcare facilities and evacuation arrangements
  • Environmental health - waste, sanitation, mosquito and pest control
  • Logistics - camp moving, set up and take down
  • Government - liaison with local, regional and national Government and relevant stakeholders in conjunction with the Regional Manager. Compliance with local licensing, permits etc.
  • Conservation - working with the Foundation in conservation and community projects and partnership arrangements
  • Sustainability - responsible for ensuring sustainability targets are met and improved upon year on year
  • Risk Assessment - ensure lodge is risk assessment compliant
  • Lodge Marketing - management of the camp social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel to and from the various camps and Lodges
This is a live-in position.
