Job Description


Introduction
Our client is an engineering partner to automotive industry, producing and supplying mainly the valve seats and valve guides, for combustion engines. The family oriented and owned business has been around for more than 60 years, with a well-established customer base internationally. They employ over 750 employees in our six facilities, across five continents.
Their South African based company, specializes on producing and supplying the brass valve guides. It employs around 85 staff members, operating on shifts. This is the facility that is looking for the candidate as per below.

Position : HR HOD

Sector : Automotive xe2x80x93 Components Manufacturing

Reports to : Managing Director

Subordinates : None

Purpose of the position
The of this role is, amongst other things, to provide the company with Human Resources expertise as a Generalist for both at Strategic level and Operational level. This role covers the entire spectrum of Human Resources. The successful candidate is expected to provide various stakeholders internally with guidance and solutions based on technical knowledge of Labour Laws and relevant legislations. With the support of Top Management, the incumbent shall ensure that the Company complies with all relevant legislative requirements pertaining to Human Resources and Employment Relationship. This becomes a key contributor-section to sound employment relationship management. Some of the components are highlighted below:

Requirements

  • NQF7 Qualification in the field of Human Resources or related studies
  • Minimum 5 Yearsxe2x80x99 senior level operation in HR role in a manufacturing environment
  • Sound knowledge of and reasonable experience in handling of Industrial / Employment Relations (internal / external) matters and managing Union relations.
  • Preferably, a person who has worked in a Bargaining Council Environment
  • Proficient in MS Office packages
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Good organisational and leadership skills
  • Strong Administrative capabilitiesResponsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible, but not limited to the following:
  • Employment Relations: Fully responsible for all HR related engagements internally and externally, with relevant stakeholders. This shall include all company initiatives in providing safe, harmonious working environment and staff welfare and implement successfully. The candidate becomes the link between the company and employee/s requiring support.
  • Recruitment: The entire onboarding process for all levels of the business needs. This shall include signatory responsibility in the employment contracts and facilitating performance discussion as per probational employment clause.TES Management: Managing service provider/s in their scope of service in relation to the needs of the company.
  • Training: To manage the entire Skills and Development portfolio for the company
  • Industrial Relations / Litigation: Responsible for all internal industrial matters and disputes resolution, facilitation and proper records keeping for the same. Provide representation within relevant dispute resolution arena when required.
  • HR Policies: Maintaining, developing and implementation of HR policies forms part of the deliverables for this role.
  • Time and Attendance: The successful candidates is responsible for ensuring that all required staff members are registered and trained on the system. General reports are printed for payroll purposes and attendance records.
  • Payroll: To provide HR support to payroll division, in line with relevant HR practices and industry / company regulations.
  • HR Compliance: To ensure that the company complies with HR related payment stipulations such as 3rd party payments timeously.
  • Administration: To ensure that HR Administrative activities are carried out timeously and in line with HR Admin practices. Monthly reports are considered administrative duties in this role.IODs: The successful candidate shall all provide admin support to OHS, such as IOD registration and recording, when required, including statutory reports.
  • Adhoc Duties and Projects: From time to time, the incumbent of the role may be directed to attend to additional adhoc duties and projects, outside of HR, upon business requirements.
The candidate MUST be in good standing with all arms of law enforcement agencies of the country. The individual should also be willing to travel to other continents, especially to our headquarters in Germany for business.
