Overview
Human Resources Officer with previous experience in the Manufacturing industry and excellent understanding of unions is required for a position in Epping, Cape Town.  The successful candidate will be responsible for HR compliance and act as a support to the daily operations of the factory.  You will develop, offer advice and implement policies and procedures within the company and facilitate the implementation of the HR strategy.
 
Minimum Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or relevant field
3 – 5 years experience in an HR function, preferably within a unionized environment
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, organization and the ability to work independently is required
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
Be actively involved in the recruitment process, advertising, screening, shortlisting and conducting interviews
Conduct verification checks and schedule medicals for potential candidates
Manage all communications with candidates
Prepare employment contracts and take-on documents for payroll
Load new employees on the HR system and ensure relevant documentation is uploaded.
Ensure that employees have a job profile, a training plan and a performance review document in place
Ensure that the Risk Officer gives new employees induction within the first week of employment
Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
Manage new employee performance probation period
Developing and maintaining performance development or improvement plan to handle the performance gap, if an employee does not meet the required performance level
Conduct Performance Management process for underperforming employees
Develop, implement, monitor and maintain Succession Planning process
Manage the resignation and dismissal process including exit interview and termination checks
Compile, prepare and distribute notices to the factory on general communications, ensuring the notification register is updated
Provide advice to Management and Supervisors regarding the correct measures to use when taking disciplinary actions against subordinate
Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances and/or other issues
Prepare and distribute notification of enquiry to employees and ensure all parties are informed
Taking minutes of the disciplinary enquiry and distribute to all relevant parties.
Capture disciplinary documentation into the HR report and HR systems.
Represent the Company at CCMA as and when required.
Complete any administration to be submitted to the trade union
Distribute notices from the union to employees
Submit reports
