About the position: A Garden Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance and care of gardens, parks, or outdoor landscapes:

Experience: 4+ years of experience in garden maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent, the minimum educational requirement. Certification in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field is advantageous

Plant Knowledge: A strong understanding of different plant species, their care requirements, and their seasonal needs is essential. Knowledge of local flora and climate conditions is necessary.

Supervisory Skills: As a supervisor, the ability to lead and manage a team of garden maintenance workers is crucial. This includes assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring that work is completed efficiently and to high standards.

Maintenance Skills: Proficiency in various garden maintenance tasks, such as mowing, weeding, pruning, planting, and fertilizing, is expected. Knowledge of irrigation systems and equipment maintenance is required.

Safety Awareness: Ensuring the safety of the maintenance team and adhering to safety protocols is important. Knowledge of safe work practices, the use of personal protective equipment, and first aid may is required.

Communication: Strong communication skills are necessary for liaising with clients or property owners, reporting on maintenance activities, and providing recommendations for improvements.

Budget Management: Some Garden Maintenance Supervisors may be responsible for managing budgets related to materials, equipment, and labor costs. Financial acumen can be an asset.

Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service to clients or residents of the property is often part of the role. This includes addressing concerns, answering questions, and maintaining a positive working relationship.
