Job Description


Purpose of role - To after a the employee relations within the biggest entity in the group, whereby you will be required to work closely with the store management in resolving employee concerns and addressing the employment discipline and conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy:

  • Manging the Employee Relations Portfolio in relation to the activities and functions on a day-to-day basis listed below and ensuring employee queries, conduct and discipline is addressed timeously and adequately.
  • Main function will be to manage the Employee Relations at the store and support to the HR Administrator.
  • Ensuring that weekly checks on time sheets are performed against the payroll time keeping system;
  • Managing staff queries daily at store level and interaction with management of employees concerns;
  • Managing the staff scheduling planner in line with the Operations and Floor Management and Store requirements;
  • Managing all IR activities from issuing warnings at store level, managing attendance and absence, controlling the actions to be taken on overages and underages;
  • HR report weekly on store(s)
  • Addressing any ER and discipline queries on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, ensuring transactional HR and IR actions addressed timeously, with faultless precision;
  • Assisting in ensuring that the all employee files are up to date with warnings, discipline records and actions taken;
  • Inputting the ER related issues to payroll for processing with the HR Administrator as the functional person to process activities onto the payroll system for floor level employees;
  • Ensuring that day to day IR functions addressed proactively.
  • Quick and short turnaround in execution of duties and tasks, including of all disciplinary matters.
Requirements
  • Managing employee activities daily and monthly;
  • Managing communication to and from management and staff on a daily basis;
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Labour Relations act, Sectoral Determination Act 9a and the BCEA is of utmost importance in this role;
  • Will suit a person with a kind natured approach. A person who is willing to get involved at the Store level with support on payroll related matters and explaining to the HRAs on processing of payroll for accuracy;
  • Interpersonal Skills and Experience Required, within a fast-paced operation like an FMCG retail business;
  • Experience leading and coordinate of the ER function within a FMCG organisation and store;
  • Ensure and maintain high level quality and accuracy of information and paperwork processing;
  • Organisation and time management skills;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Be able to deal with confidential and sensitive information shared by Manco and management levels;
  • To relate to people from various cultures and to work in a team;
  • Understand the BCEA and LRA in relation to the Sectoral
  • Determination Act 9, BCEA, Wholesale and Retail Sector, COIDA and Unemployment Act;
  • Have experience and understanding of Employment Self Service Portal;
  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years experience in an ER role, within a similar environment.
  • Must have a Matric
  • Excellent Excel Skills is required i.e. Pivot Tables, Formulas.
  • Suitable marketing qualification and or degree applicable;
  • Must have reliable transport and will be compensated accordingly in view of a package of travel and car allowance on a monthly basis
