Job Description

They are seeking an Assistant Safety & Security Manager to support the Director of Safety & Security in overseeing all aspects of safety, security, and emergency response operations. This role ensures that guest, staff, and asset protection are maintained at the highest standard through proactive risk management, compliance, and effective leadership.
Key Responsibilities Safety & Security Leadership

• Assist in the implementation and daily oversight of hotel safety and security operations.
• Provide leadership to in-house and outsourced security teams, ensuring performance and training standards.
• Act as incident commander during emergencies in the absence of the Director.
• Monitor and manage access control, CCTV systems, and contractor compliance.

Health & Safety Oversight

• Support the hotels Health & Safety Management System (aligned to OHSA, ISO 45001, and local regulations).
• Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and HIRA processes across departments.
• Maintain accurate logs of incidents, IODs, and corrective actions.
• Ensure contractors receive safety inductions and complete required documentation.

Emergency Preparedness

• Coordinate evacuation drills, fire equipment inspections, and safety briefings.
• Assist with the Emergency Management Plan (EMP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
• Monitor fire safety systems, ensuring compliance and proper maintenance.

Incident Management

• Investigate all security, guest, and staff incidents, compile reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with POPIA and maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.

Stakeholder & Guest Engagement

• Build strong relationships with SAPS, Fire & Rescue, EMS, and private response providers.
• Liaise with VVIP guests, delegations, and special events, ensuring discreet and personalized protection.
• Promote a safety-first culture while balancing hospitality and enforcement.

Requirements

• PSIRA Grade B certification (minimum); Grade A preferred.
• Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
• Certification in First Aid, Fire Fighting, and Evacuation Coordination (advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years experience in security operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role (hospitality or high-volume environment preferred).
• Strong knowledge of OHSA, PSIRA, POPIA, and fire safety regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, and be on-call.
