Job Description

The Code 14 Truck Driver Trainer is responsible for training, assessing, and mentoring heavy-duty truck drivers to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient driving practices. The role focuses on driver development, road safety, legal compliance, and operational standards, ensuring drivers meet company and regulatory requirements within a transport environment.

Responsibilities

Train new and existing drivers in vehicle operation, safety, traffic laws, load handling, and company procedures. Provide on-road instruction, driving assessments, and defensive driving guidance to reduce accidents. Assess driver skills, identify gaps, and provide coaching or refresher training. Ensure driver compliance with safety policies, road regulations, and legal requirements. Investigate incidents and provide corrective training. Maintain training records, track performance, and report to management. Coordinate training schedules with operations, fleet, and HR. Improve training programs and mentor drivers to enhance safety, efficiency, and fuel economy.
Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent. Minimum 2-3 years' experience in transport, fleet operations, or safety monitoring. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with fleet management software and tracking systems (Mix Telematics,LiveVision) Knowledge of transport and safety regulations. Strong analytical, investigative, and reporting skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coaching and feedback. Proficiency in computer systems and Drive Cam or fleet management software. Ability to remain objective and handle sensitive information confidentially.
