ROLE PURPOSE



An exciting opportunity exists for a proactive and experienced Team Lead within the Revenue Assurance Billing Centre of Excellence (CoE). This role is central to leading the FTTH Assurance, Fixed Billing, and Billing CoE functions, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of revenue-related processes across key business areas.


The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery of revenue assurance activities, with a strong focus on identifying, analysing, and mitigating revenue leakage risks. This includes the design, implementation, and ongoing management of revenue controls, as well as the business-as-usual (BAU) oversight of existing control frameworks.


A high level of technical proficiency is required, particularly in advanced SQL scripting and certified coding, to support in-depth data analysis, reporting, and the development of automated solutions. The ability to interpret complex data and present actionable insights will be key to driving operational improvements and supporting strategic decision-making.


In addition to technical responsibilities, the role requires strong leadership and people management skills. The Team Lead will oversee a team of specialists, managing work allocation, performance reviews, leave planning, and skills development. Creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement will be essential.


The incumbent will also be expected to manage stakeholder engagement and reporting at both Client and Nexio Senior Management levels, ensuring alignment with business objectives and service delivery expectations.



KEY ACTIVITIES




Align and execute all specified customer revenue assurance activities in line with strategic objectives. Ensure revenue assurance practices support business sustainability and growth. Fulfil Case Manager responsibilities, including end-to-end ownership of revenue assurance cases. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of revenue leakage. Design, implement, and maintain revenue assurance controls and processes. Deliver measurable improvements in revenue protection and recovery. Minimize financial risk through proactive leakage detection and prevention. Provide insights that directly influence business performance and decision-making. Lead the gathering and analysis of business and technical requirements for assurance initiatives. Drive the development and enhancement of assurance controls. Manage and mentor team members to ensure high performance and continuous development. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and service excellence.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Lead and manage a team of Revenue Assurance professionals, ensuring optimal resource allocation and performance. Oversee all staff management activities including leave planning, performance appraisals, KPI tracking, and skills development. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members. Identify, investigate, and manage revenue leakage areas across FTTH and Fixed Billing domains. Collaborate with business units to close leakage gaps, recover lost revenue, and implement preventative controls. Drive the implementation of best practice assurance methodologies. Ensure consistent execution and monitoring of assurance control points across business structures. Develop, enhance, and maintain controls to ensure accurate, complete, and timely revenue recognition. Support DevOps teams in automating assurance controls and improving data accuracy. Perform extensive data extraction, manipulation, and analysis using Teradata and Oracle SQL. Validate data accuracy and completeness across source systems and billing platforms. Quantify and communicate the financial impact of identified issues and risks. Prepare and present reports and dashboards highlighting trends, key indicators, and performance metrics. Conduct detailed root cause analysis of mismatches and anomalies. Drive cross-functional resolution of issues and define preventative measures. Monitor and correct data inconsistencies that impact billing and reporting accuracy. Identify and define process requirements to address revenue leakage and optimise revenue streams. Analyse data models to identify high-risk areas and gaps. Support the development of prototypes and data models in collaboration with IT Data Enablement teams. Review and enhance existing solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy. Ensure effective coordination of Revenue Assurance activities across departments. Escalate incidents promptly and follow through to resolution. Provide input into business requirements for solution design and improvement initiatives. Engage with senior stakeholders to communicate findings, risks, and recommendations. Develop scripts to support reconciliations, reporting, and resolution of billing queries. Support ad-hoc business data queries and provide analytical insights. Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, automated assurance solutions.


Additional Information:


The incumbent is expected to have a well-rounded and in-depth understanding of the business, market landscape, and client environment, and is recognised as a subject matter expert in Case Management within the Revenue Assurance domain.


Demonstrated experience in financial operations, revenue assurance, or a related financial discipline is essential.


Proven ability to build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with peers, cross-functional teams, brand leaders, and senior executives.


Must possess a strategic mindset with the ability to think holistically and see the "big picture" while managing detailed operational tasks.


Strong investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable insights.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE



Matric


Tertiary Qualification in Management and IT related field


Post graduate qualification in Management and IT related field advantageous


Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience


Knowledge and understanding of Telecommunications business operations and in-depth technical (network & systems) capabilities

SQL Advanced Certification and experience Essential

(i.e. Oracle PL/SQL / T-SQL / Informix)


Knowledge and experience of RA / BA Operations with Telecom Operator


Experience in financial and/or operational auditing / investigations methodologies and tools


Experience in business process analysis, modelling and re-engineering


Knowledge of IT or system audit and data analysis experience


Siebel and other SRM related systems experience
