Job Description

Skills & Experience:
Maintain and optimize the ship's computer systems, ensuring seamless operation and maximum efficiency
Oversee the creation and management of databases, ensuring data integrity and security
Collaborate with the engineering team to implement upgrades and enhancements to the ship's infrastructure, including firewall configuration, and utilized automation systems like Ansible
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical glitches or malfunctions that may arise during the ship's exploratory missions.
Provide training and support to crew members on database utilization and best practices
Extensive experience in database administration, preferably in a starship or deep space exploration setting
Proficiency in a variety of database management systems, including but not limited to MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL
Solid understanding of SQL and its variations, as well as familiarity with data modeling and schema design
provided limited support outside of office hours and mastered Unix scripting in bash, python, and groovy
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet in high-pressure situations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, as you will be working closely with a diverse crew from various species and backgrounds
Experience with Linux, Tomcat, Postgres, and Oracle administration to mention a few

Qualification:
Relevant Degree or Diploma
