The position of Manager: Health Policy is vacant. The Specialist: Health Policy will report directly to the Senior Manager: Health Policy and will be based at Head Office, Pretoria. The total remuneration package will be will be based on qualifications and experience. The Specialist:Health Policy will be required to support the Senior Manager Health Policy: through the implementation of the following KPAxe2x80x99s
Qualification requirements are:
MMed/ MPH (MBCHB + plus additional 2-3 years for experience) in Health Policy, or similar or
Undergraduate degree in health sciences (+ plus additional 2-3 years for experience) in Health Policy, or similar
Minimum of 4-5 years relevant experience as well as 1- 2 years of experience within research, health policy,
health product development, and principles of evidence- based medicine environment or similar Publications in appropriate journals/ conference presentations would be an added advantage
Knowledge and application of the significant health policies and regulatory framework in South Africa Thorough knowledge and application of research methodologies. Knowledge of healthcare financing.
Ability to effectively communicate research findings verbally, visually, and in writing to different audiences
Ability to interpret research findings, formulate reports and make recommendations
Possess scientific report writing report skills
Possess a high energy level and strong work ethic with a commitment to continuous improvement in a dynamic and changing environment that strives to exceed expectations;
Stewardship of client's information and data
Desirable
Have an understanding of the medical schemes industry as well as the national health system
Sound knowledge of evidence-based medicine -
Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
Provide technical input for consideration of health policy developments, evidence-based medicine techniques, Health economic evaluation and affordability
Draft, implement and maintain policies and procedures for concerning research
Coordinate directly with business and its clients to best understand the objectives of the Scheme
Provide technical input for surveys to discover and understand prospective customer and provider preferences
Interact and negotiate with multi-disciplinary team to prepare research proposals for approval before commencement of research projects and publication
Develop and maintain partnerships with specialist researchers, academic and research institutions
Collaborate with health economists and actuaries to ensure that products are cost-effective, affordable and value for money for members
Lead thought generation for development of cost effective and effective and affordable and sustainable health products
Analyse and apply evidence based techniques to the submissions of stakeholders and make recommendations to the product development committee.
Continuously monitor and research developments in health care technologies, based on international best practices to inform the Schemexe2x80x99s product offerings.
Monitoring of Schemexe2x80x99s epidemiology trends and burden of disease.
Work with a teams of researchers and specialists to design and implement innovations
Manage project and programs delivered by the Research Panel
Research focus should lead to achievement of universal health coverage objectives
Manage monitoring and evaluation of disease patterns, utilisation and outcomes
Develop recommendations for preventive strategies.
