Job Description

To manage and motivate small plant staff in delivering high level quality service and repairs to provide good service to clients / sites. The incumbent will manage and lead a team small group of people in allocating workload and managing the day-to-day operations in the small plant. It requires the incumbent to co-ordinate resources and liaise with internal employees and external suppliers to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high-quality standard.

Education (Formal Qualification Required)

• Extensive knowledge of small plant and equipment
• Qualified petrol mechanic
• Extensive experience in small plant items (generators, water pumps, grinders, breakers, drive units etc.)
• Electrical background for generators alternators configuration.
• 5-10 Years in small plant workshop environment
• Ability to work with people at various levels from workshop floor to senior management
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Familiar with disciplinary procedures

Ideally:

• Mechanical qualification (petrol)
• Background in construction
• Background in diesel mechanic machinery

Legal Requirements

• Driverxe2x80x99s License

Training and Knowledge:

• Red seal qualification
• Knowledge of effective disciplinary procedure

Experience:

• Heavy duty construction equipment experience 10-15 years

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and plan the maintenance and repair of all Small Plant
• Ensure that overhauls, preventative maintenance, and repair are done in a cost-effective manner, with attention given to quality and longer duration of equipment.
• Ensure that the equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable working condition in accordance with planned preventive maintenance program and to identify and rectify repetitive problems
• Maintain an effective safety program, coordinating safety training with Health & Safety Department; ensures all injuries are reported timely, properly investigated, measures taken to prevent future injuries and good housekeeping practices throughout the workshop.
• Ensure that planning, scheduling, and unscheduled repairs are carried out efficiently and cost effectively, with quality service.
• Oversees the administrative requirements of the small plant, including warranty obligations, inspection records, manual updates, equipment defect reports, maintenance services, policies, procedures, and practices.
• Oversee the allocation of plant and operators to site.
• Oversea Small Plant employees
• Liaise with supplier daily for belter price and service.
• Oversee new/better suppliers for daily operations.
• Review new equipment for suitability and make recommendations, based on cost, availability, and needs of business operations.
• Responsible discipline in the Small Plant workshop and to ensure employee disciple is of the highest standard.
