Construction Equipment Mechanic / Technician - Wellington - Market Related Salary
Responsibilities:
Conduct on-site start-up inspections to ensure equipment readiness and secure plant shutdowns at the end of each shift.
Perform daily maintenance and preventative maintenance on construction equipment.
Diagnose vehicle conditions through inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
Execute scheduled services as prescribed by equipment manufacturers.
Verify vehicle performance through test drives and adjust controls and systems accordingly.
Manage costs by utilizing warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
Maintain inventory of supplies, place orders, and verify receipts.
Note machine hours and ensure service kits are ordered and available when needed.
Consult with site agent to schedule services or repairs, booking machines well in advance.
Minimize breakdowns/downtime, prioritizing prompt action in case of breakdowns.
Maintain a high standard of maintenance on all plant and small plant equipment.
Keep the plant clean, safe, and free of leaks; regularly evaluate the condition inside the cab of each machine.
Ensure all equipment is in a roadworthy condition and valid license discs.
Complete job cards for work done on equipment and report in weekly plant meetings.
Keep records of oils, grease, and consumables issued to the plant; send weekly reports to Head Office.
Report arrival and departure from the site to the site agent.
Report abuse or damage of plant to the direct manager and take disciplinary action when necessary.
Perform welding, gas cutting, and work with power tools as part of duties.
Assist with any related tasks to meet operational requirements on-site.
Update job knowledge through participation in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
Enhance the maintenance department and organizational reputation by taking ownership of tasks and exploring opportunities to add value.
Adhere to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and Amendments.
Adhere to the conditions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Adhere to the conditions of the Environmental Act, ensuring no spillage and wastage.
Comply with basic conditions of employment as set out by the Company.
