To be part of the Engineering team to assist with the design and engineering of renewable energy power plants for the civil infrastructure of renewable power plants at the earliest possible stage of project development, especially before the investment decision.
Additionally, they will participate actively in the construction process during the project execution phase providing support to the construction team.

Responsibilities:

• Support and/or lead civil engineering and design activities during the development and construction phases working towards delivering technically compliant projects for renewable energy projects located in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Develop and establish the technical base case and specifications of the project related to its civil works.
• Develop technical specifications for the performance of site studies that will provide input to the conceptual design of civil infrastructure for renewable energy projects.
• Overseeing the performance of site studies during the development and project execution phases. Responsible for start-to finish works including liaising with Consultants, Contractors, performing field visits, inspections, analysis, and quality control for the site investigations.
• Review and evaluate technical documentation and contracts to establish technical requirements to be implemented in the civil infrastructure of the projects.
• Support with drafting of technical schedules for various contracts (EPC, O&M, etc.) related to the civil works of the projects.
• Participation in the design of civil infrastructure works to support in the calculation of the capex of the project.
• Support with compilation and evaluation of RFP documents and supplier responses during the tendering phase of the projects.
• Manage, coordinate, and review the complete detailed engineering design package / process for the civil works.
• Support the construction team during the project execution to include the planning and alignment of civil scope of the project.
• Coordination with the Business Development, Power Marketing, Engineering, Planning and Resource departments.

• Ensuring compliance with ACCIONA Energia Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Ensuring compliance with ACCIONA Energia policies and procedures.

Required Skills and Competencies

Degree/Training:

• BEng/BSc/BTech Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PrEng)or Professional Technologist (PrTech) registration with ECSA.
• Must be proficient with of the entire MS Office Suite.
• Basic knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil3D,

Additional:

• Knowledge and understanding of the relevant codes, regulations, and standards used in the design of civil infrastructure.
• Comprehensive civil engineering knowledge in renewable energy projects including experience on wind farm projects.
• Good understanding the various interfaces during the project execution phase.
• Experience dealing with consultantsxe2x80x99, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Valid driverxe2x80x99s license.
• Must be able to travel within South Africa and the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa and abroad from time to time
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills

Languages/Level: English/ High

Years/Areas experience required:

• 6+ yearsxe2x80x99 experience as a Civil Engineer,
• 2+ yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a project environment working in renewable energy projects specifically wind projects.
