A leading architecture and design practice specialising in hospitality projects is seeking an accomplished Senior Architect to join its Johannesburg-based team. This role is suited to a highly experienced professional with strong design leadership, on-site expertise, and the ability to manage projects and teams through all stages of architectural delivery.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping high-quality hospitality environments, overseeing design development, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical and aesthetic standards.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and technical delivery on hospitality projects from concept through to completion
• Manage and mentor architectural team members, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely output
• Oversee project planning, coordination, and delivery across multiple work stages
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure seamless project execution
• Conduct regular on-site inspections to monitor construction quality, progress, and compliance
• Resolve technical and design challenges arising during documentation and construction phases
• Contribute to project management functions, including programme tracking and coordination
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, building codes, and professional standards

Qualifications & Experience

• Master's degree in Architecture (MArch) or Architectural Technology (MTech)
• Minimum 8 years' professional architectural experience
• At least 3 years' experience in a management or senior leadership role
• Proven experience in hospitality design (highly advantageous)
• Project management experience is beneficial
• Strong on-site construction experience (essential)
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects concurrently

• Valid passport
• Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, design-driven environment
