As a SCADA Engineer, you would be responsible for the following:

• Prepare SCADA functional design specification, configuration and interface requirements as inputs to the Employers Requirements/Specifications
• Evaluate contractorsxe2x80x99 SCADA and power plant system engineering proposals and design
• Review contractorsxe2x80x99 SCADA and power plant system documentation, incl. as built documentation
• Witness SCADA factory acceptance and site testing and commissioning
• Responsible for ensuring integrated SCADA design and compliance to Employers Requirements/Specifications
• Review quality and test documentation for SCADA systems
• Secure co-operation and teamwork between different contractors and their with SCADA specialists, SCADA network specialists and SCADA hardware engineers
• Interfacing with ownerxe2x80x99s engineer (OE), contractors, Eskom/Grid Operator, NERSA, RETEC
• Provide technical support to the engineering team on SCADA related items.
• Such other duties that may be required from time to time within the general scope of the position.
• The role description should develop along with the changing demands of the projectsxe2x80x99 objectives and priorities.

Ideally, as a SCADA Engineer, you would possess the following:

• BEng/BSc/BS (Electro-technical or electrical engineering)
• 3+ yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a wind and/or PV utility scale project environment.
• 5+ yearsxe2x80x99 experience in design and implementation of SCADA and Electrical control systems
• Practical experience with SCADA technologies, Panel building and grid calculations.
• Technical knowledge within areas of industrial automation
• Knowledge and experience with design and implementation of SCADA and Electrical control systems for industrial automation projects
• Knowledge and experience within area of creating and maintaining technical documentation for SCADA, Network, Process control and data exchange related installations.
• Understanding of the relevant technical codes, regulations and standards relating to the development of renewable energy projects in South Africa including the South African Grid Code and Eskom standards
• Attention to detail required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest in renewable energy projects
• Proficient in English
• Willingness to travel and spend time on site.
• A valid Driverxe2x80x99s license.
