Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Wind Engineer - Renewable Power Energy to join the Energy team in Cape Town.Hatchxe2x80x99s Energy group partners with clients to provide comprehensive plans that incorporate all aspects of their projects. Our energy expertise in the oil and gas sector comprises the entire value chainxe2x80x94upstream, midstream, and downstream; and in the power sector includes thermal, nuclear, waterpower, renewable, hybrid, transmission and distribution, and grid modernization. Relevant experienceMinimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in the wind industry with energy storage hybridization and network studies as a benefit.Wind resource assessment, feasibility studies, site layout and optimization, project design and/or execution on site for on- and off-shore wind projects.Assessment of wind resources and wind projects including strong understanding of met mast data analysis, wind regime/wind flow modelling, wake effects, energy yield forecasting, and uncertainty analysis.Experience with turbine manufacturers through project design, equipment testing and operational & maintenance experience.Integration of wind, solar and energy storage into hybrid technology solutions for off-grid, island and/or grid connected projects.Experience in grid impact studies, grid compliance and proficiency in power system simulation software will be beneficial.Programming and data analysis skills such as Python, MATLab, etc. would be considered a strong assetExperience in business development through engaging with clients and developing projects and solutions to meet their requirements.QualificationsDegree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Post Graduate Degree will be beneficial.Professional registration with ECSA or equivalent international associationAbility to quantitative analysis and mastery of computer software specific to industry (WASP, CFD, Windfarmer, Windpro, RETScreen, PVSyst, HOMER, etc.) as well as power system simulation software (PowerFactory, PSSE, PSCAD, etc.)Writing and reporting skills:Excellent communication, scientific rigourAutonomy and initiativeFluently in English; additional language skills and proficiency are considered a positive attribute Why join us?Develop innovation partnershipsThink locally, work globallyEngage with people who make a difference What we offer you?Flexible work environment.Long term career development Why join us?Work with great people to make a differenceCollaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutionsTop employerWhat we offer you?
