Job Description


Position Description:

This exciting and challenging position has arisen within the Facilties Risk Department of TFG Facilities Management.

As a Risk Officer, you would need to maintain and monitor, health and safety and technical security standards, procedures and policies in accordance with the Facilities Risk Department.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the OHS Manager in ensuring compliance to health and safety regulations
  • Ensure the TFG meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to Occupational health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated, and recommended improvements implemented in terms of TFG policies and applicable legislation.
  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and alarms are correctly reported, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees know their responsibilities.
  • Assist with development of health & safety procedures in line with the provisions of the relevant legislation.
  • Be part of the regulated Health & Safety Committee meetings and ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines
  • Ensure and assist sites with preparedness protocols.
  • Monitor sitesxe2x80x99 legal compliance & provide advice on regionxe2x80x99s and national safety legislation requirements & implement relevant procedures and policies.
  • Oversee onsite clinics operations
  • Ensure that contractors doing any work on TFG sites meet all contractor management standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Participate in BCP process and champion risk related activities.
  • Ensure OHS communication on sites you are responsible for.
  • Compilation and distribution of various Risk systems reports.
  • Facilitation of and conduct risk assessment specific to site(s) (HIRA)
  • Fulfilment of various administrative duties i.e., incident reports, billing queries, safety files, etc
Other responsibilities
  • Conduct Inspections and create awareness around faults in critical environments such as Server rooms & plant rooms.
  • Oversight of Technical Risk Systems i.e., Intruder Alarms, Fire Alarms, Access Control, CCTV, Sprinklers System, etc.
  • Supporting the Facilities teams with site inspections and reporting all issues
  • Support the Facilities teams at certain sites with generator testing and Sprinkler flow testing
  • Support the facilities teams with any other reasonable duties within the Facilities & Risk portfolio, as may be required from time to time
The ideal candidate would need to:
  • Matric
  • SAMTRAC or equivalent
  • National Diploma: Safety Management or similar equivalent xe2x80x93 Desirable and advantageous.
  • ISO 14001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 advantageous
  • Have 3 to 5 years of proven experience in Occupational Health and Safety, physical security, and technical security systems in manufacturing, warehousing and retail
  • have a valid driver's license and own reliable transport
  • Be innovative, critical thinker and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure and high-paced environment
  • Good communication and organisational skills with a strong ability to influence, build relationships, and negotiate with colleagues and external partners
  • Excellent Report Writing Skills
  • Excellent Investigations Skills
  • Strong understanding and proven ability to enforce provisions of the OHS Act
  • Have experience in MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to be on standby when required
  • Ability to operate on multi-sites (i.e. 8 sites),
  • Ability to conduct ad hoc travel between sites in Gauteng and KZN
