Overview




Reporting to the Head of Reward and Shared Services, the Remuneration Specialist plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining competitive and equitable reward structures that support the organisation's talent strategy. This role ensures that remuneration practices are aligned with business objectives, market trends, and regulatory requirements, enabling the organisation to attract, retain, and motivate top talent.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree (NQF Level 6 or 7) in Human Resources, Business, Commerce, or a related field. Honours degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification is advantageous.

Experience



Minimum 5 years' experience in remuneration, preferably within a complex or global organisation. Proven experience in applying compensation frameworks, policies, and governance. Strong advisory experience with business leaders and HR partners on remuneration matters. Experience with compensation systems and tools (e.g., grading, benchmarking, analytics). Exposure to equity plans

Duties



Strategic & Advisory




Support the development and execution of the organisation's reward strategy and remuneration philosophy. Advise HR Business Partners and line managers on remuneration decisions, including complex individual cases. Provide insights and recommendations based on market trends, benchmarking, and internal equity analysis. Contribute to the design and implementation of incentive plans, recognition programs, and share-based compensation.

Operational Execution




Full accountability for designing, communicating, implementing, tracking and outcome reporting on the Annual Salary Review (ASR) process. Maintenance and continuing development of the remuneration review system. Design and management of the adhoc remuneration adjustment process. Monitor adherence and consistent application of variable pay rules. Ensure accurate and timely execution of compensation transactions, including package structuring, allowances, TGP conversions, and benefits. Approve and process non-standard compensation requests (e.g., car allowances, sign-on bonuses).



Governance & Compliance




Ensure adherence to internal policies, tax legislation, and regulatory requirements. Maintain high standards of data integrity and confidentiality in all compensation-related activities. Support audit and compliance processes related to remuneration.

Analytics & Reporting




Market benchmarking and pay equity analyses based on confirmed job evaluations. Monitor compensation costs and provide insights to support budgeting and workforce planning. Develop and present reports and dashboards to HR and business stakeholders. Compile and submit salary survey data. Manage the process for Fair Pay analysis and reporting.

Collaboration & Communication




Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure competitive and consistent offer structuring. Act as a point of escalation for HR operations on remuneration queries. Conducts training on remuneration elements to various HR, employee and line manager structures. Roll out any new / amended remuneration initiatives across the organisation, through the HR structures. Coordinate with payroll, finance, and other teams to ensure seamless execution of reward programs.

Job Competencies



Deep understanding of remuneration principles, practices, and governance. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to interpret and present complex data in a clear and compelling manner. Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills. Project management capability and ability to manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of payroll processes, tax implications, and grading systems. Proficiency in benchmarking
