Job Description


Job Summary Duties:

  • Determines vehicle condition through conducting inspections and tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Repairs vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling,
  • disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, including but not limited to electrical components, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; adjusting and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
  • Complies with regulations of vehicle requirements by testing engine and safety.
  • Maintains vehicle records by documenting services and repairs.
  • Keeps workshop equipment in working order, following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Limit costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
  • Ensure supplies are ready by placing orders, verifying receipt.
  • Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job.
  • Provide technical guidance / support for other technicians in service department.
  • Housekeeping, make sure that the cleanliness of the workplace, tools and equipment.
  • Assist with routine non-mechanical / non-electrical and small repairs.
  • Maintain a daily flow of quality and accurate written records and other paperwork for invoices record purposes.
  • Ensure the highest standard of courtesy, client service and integrity when interacting with customers, colleagues and members of the public.
  • Perform workshop related work as required and any other duties required by Management.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Diesel Technician
  • Experience on various different brands
  • Must come from a dealership background, working on trucks, Commercial and passenger vehicles
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and understand the operation of Mechanical, Electrical equipment and to repair the same.
  • Must have more than 3 years truck maintenance & repair experience.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends to achieve their goals.
  • Must be able to understand, speak and write English
  • Valid driverxe2x80x99s license (Code 10 will be a bonus)
  • Excellent Time keeping & Attendance
  • Own Transport
  • Live in the Gauteng North and/or West Rand area
  • Automotive Industry Experience
