Our independent Christian school in Cape Town invites applications for the position of Primary School Sports Co-ordinator. This is a key leadership role responsible for the effective planning, administration and delivery of the Primary School sports programme (Grades 1-6), including Physical Education teaching, coaching, fixtures management, sports administration, and collaboration with internal and external coaches.
The ideal candidate is organised, energetic, child-centred, and committed to excellent sports education within a values-based school environment. The role includes academic, administrative, organisational, and relational responsibilities and requires strong communication with parents, staff, pupils and partner schools.

Minimum Requirements
Relevant qualification in Sports Management, Education, Human Movement Science or similar.
Experience teaching Physical Education (preferably in a Primary School environment).
Proven experience in sports coaching and sports administration.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, pupils and external providers.
Competency in email communication, basic spreadsheet use, and general administrative systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Academic Responsibilities
Teach Physical Education for Grades 1-6 and Pre-Primary
Be able to teach other academic subjects when required
2. Organisational Responsibilities
Daily
Regularly update the sports noticeboard
Communicate programme changes with parents
Confirm fixtures, fields, and team logistics
Manage and communicate with all outside coaches
Weekly
Prepare and send the weekly sports programme to parents
Confirm fixtures with other schools and coaches
Inspect sports fields and liaise with grounds staff to ensure readiness.
Attend weekly staff meetings on Monday and Friday to bring updates on sports
Monthly
Communicate content to the Social Media manager
Collect and process coaches' timesheets
Termly
Prepare a written term overview
Send thank-you communication to coaches
Prepare next term's sports programme
Confirm next term's arrangements with all coaches.
Prepare age-group fixtures lists for all sports codes.
Review the upcoming term planner (tournaments, tours, events)
Seasonal
Appoint, meet, and contract internal and external coaches
Communicate expectations, protocols, and code of conduct
Issue and collect all sports equipment per season; manage inventories
Arrange repairs and maintain spare/emergency sets
Manage sports sign-ups and Ed-Admin entries
Update and maintain sports databases (house groups, age groups etc.)
Coach and manage one summer and one winter sports team.
Sports Events
Organise and oversee inter-house sports competitions
Coordinate inter-school events (e.g., athletics)
Plan and run the annual Sports Awards Ceremony
Manage annual sports photo days.
Introduce and manage inter-house events across JP and SP:
Athletics, Gala, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Mini-Cricket. Book facilities where required.
Maintain term and annual house points, trophies and prize allocations.
3. Communication and Meetings
Weekly meeting with Primary School Head
Weekly meeting with High School Sports Co-ordinator
Attend sports code AGM's and inter-school meetings.
Maintain positive PR with other schools, clubs and associations.
Attend Parent Evenings and present where required.
Present sports updates in weekly assemblies.
4. Finances
Assist with sports budgeting and record-keeping
Process coach payments and service provider fees promptly
Acquire quotes and purchase equipment (subject to approval).
