Job Overview:
The People & Operations Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring the
implementation of strategic initiatives, and managing a self-sustaining team. The role focuses on creating a robust operational structure to support the business's growth while enabling the founder to step back from daily operations. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, values long-term strategic planning, and excels in people management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Execution & Leadership:

  • Work closely with the CEO/founder to develop and execute the company's strategic plan.
  • Translate high-level strategy into actionable operational plans, ensuring alignment across all departments.
  • Lead key business initiatives that help scale operations and reduce the company's reliance on the founder.
2. Operational Management:
  • Design, implement, and optimize operational processes that improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop and oversee systems to ensure smooth and effective workflows across all business functions (sales, marketing, finance, HR, etc.).
  • Continuously evaluate and streamline operations to eliminate bottlenecks and improve productivity.
3. Team Leadership & Development:
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance team, fostering a culture of accountability and results-driven performance.
  • Develop a self-managing leadership team that can operate without direct founder involvement.
  • Implement employee development programs to enhance skills, leadership, and engagement.
4. Metrics & Reporting:
  • Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and team performance.
  • Regularly review financial performance and operational metrics, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring profitability.
5. Successor Development:
  • Assist in identifying, mentoring, and preparing a successor to take over key leadership responsibilities.
  • Foster leadership growth within the company to ensure smooth transitions in key roles.
6. Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
  • Act as a liaison between the CEO and various departments, ensuring clear communication and execution of the company's goals.
  • Oversee cross-functional projects that align with the company's growth strategy and objectives.
7. Problem-Solving & Decision-Making:
  • Act as the company's primary problem-solver, stepping in to make decisions that unblock teams and keep projects moving forward.
  • Address operational and team challenges proactively, ensuring smooth and efficient problem resolution.
8. Legacy Building & Long-Term Planning:
  • Work with the CEO to preserve the company's legacy while designing systems and structures that ensure long-term success.
  • Focus on long-term strategic growth that benefits future generations, employees, and stakeholders.
Requirements
Measurables / Definition of success:
  • Retention KPI
  • Overall NPS of X maintained (to be agreed)
  • Team and systems built out to support efficient fulfillment
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a senior operations, chief of staff, or general management role, preferably in a scaling business environment.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, organizational design, and leadership development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Experience in team building and development, with a strong focus on creating self-sustaining teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • A strategic thinker with an ability to balance long-term vision with day-to-day execution.

Benefits
Working Hours: 9 am - 5 pm UK (With flexibility)
Location : Fully Remote
Salary Range: R25 000 - R39 000 (Based on experience)
