Job Description

Purpose of the Role: The Pastry Sous Chef leads the pastry section, ensuring the quality, consistency, and creativity of all pastry offerings. The role requires a skilled, detail-oriented individual with a passion for pastry and the ability to lead by example. The ideal candidate is trend-aware and eager to develop innovative creations that enhance the guest experience.
Key Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To

  • Oversee the daily operations of the pastry section, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation standards are met
  • Lead and support a team of pastry chefs and assistants, maintaining a positive and productive working environment
  • Develop and implement innovative pastry, dessert, and cake designs aligned with guest expectations and current trends
  • Ensure all pastry items are prepared according to standard recipes and hotel specifications
  • Monitor inventory, manage stock rotation, and assist with ordering of pastry ingredients and supplies
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness across all pastry work areas
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to align pastry offerings with seasonal menus and guest feedback
  • Deliver excellent internal and external customer service and handle guest feedback professionally
  • Work flexible shifts in line with business requirements, including weekends and public holidays
Criteria
  • Relevant qualification and accreditation in professional patisserie or pastry arts
  • Proven experience as a Pastry Sous Chef or Senior Pastry Chef in a high-end hospitality or hotel environment
  • Strong technical skills across all areas of pastry, including plated desserts, cake decorating, and baking
  • Up to date with modern food trends, techniques, and international best practices
  • Energetic, level-headed individual with strong leadership and teamwork abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Guest-focused, service-minded, and committed to high standards of hospitality
  • Able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in line with operational needs
