Job Description

Strategy and Planning:

Devising news and sports delivery strategies and overseeing the implementation thereof. Developing and overseeing implementation of a media news strategy for the station. Constantly evaluating the market in terms of news services provided by other platforms. Monitoring all feeds from news bureaus and other agencies. Designing innovative and unique solutions to optimise routine news coverage.

Team Leadership and Management:

Mentoring and managing the Y News staff to ensure that the specified quantity and standard of news content is delivered each day. Managing the newsroom to ensure maximum productivity, efficiencies, and a collaborative team. Preparing work schedules and deadlines and encourage team members to meet targets to facilitate timely delivery.

Editorial Oversight and Content Management:

Editing and vetting all bulletins. Evaluating all news for authenticity and checking with sources to ensure correctness of bulletins/content to avoid conflicts. Managing and editing content to cater to listener demand and providing detailed information for same. Managing and editing daily news (across on-air and digital platforms), special news stories and periodical items with help of video editing tools to facilitate video content dissemination.

Administration:

Drafting Monthly reports on brand activities. Managing on-air schedules for the team Budget reconciliations and tracking. Establishing and implementing exclusive content calendars.

Stakeholder Relationships:

Building, supporting and maintaining interpersonal and team relationships to ensure stable working environment and achievement of team objectives. Effective and efficient management of teams.

Qualifications:

National Senior Certificate - Essential Bachelors Degree (3 years - 360 credits) - Recommended

Experience:

Radio Broadcast and News - Operational - 5 years Radio Broadcast and News - Management - 1 year

Competencies:

Drivers License - Essential Technology Proficiency - MS Office Suite - Intermediate Language Proficiency - English Advanced
