Naval Architect Engineer - Marine Projects (12-Month Contract)
Location: Simonstown Dockyard
Contract Duration: 1 Year (Mobilization: September 2025)
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain Secret-level Security Clearance required
We are seeking a Naval Architect Engineer with a strong academic background and hands-on experience in marine or shipbuilding environments. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-profile marine project in a secure, multidisciplinary setting.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture (NQF Level 7) or equivalent from an accredited institution
- 3+ years of relevant experience in ship design, marine systems, or naval architecture
- Registered as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA and actively pursuing professional registration
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Access)
- Working knowledge of budgeting, project, and financial management
- Strong understanding of engineering design, theory, applied maths, and physics
- Beginner to intermediate proficiency in:
- AutoCAD and 3D design tools
- Engineering design/simulation software
- Professional, ethical, and trustworthy conduct
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across diverse disciplines
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Results-focused, deadline-driven, and quality-oriented
