Mechanical Engineer - Marine Projects (12-Month Contract)
Location: Simonstown Dockyard
Contract Duration: 1 Year (Mobilization: September 2025)
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain Secret-level Security Clearance required
An exciting opportunity exists for a Mechanical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team working on a major marine contract. This role is ideal for a motivated early-career professional with a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles, a passion for complex project environments, and a drive toward ECSA professional registration.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (NQF Level 7) from an accredited institution
- 3+ years of relevant experience in engineering environments
- Registered as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA and actively working toward professional registration
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Access)
- Good working knowledge of budgeting, project, and financial management
- Strong theoretical understanding of engineering design, applied maths, and physics
- Beginner to intermediate proficiency in:
- AutoCAD and 3D design tools
- Engineering design/simulation software
- Professional, ethical, and reliable approach to work
- Effective communicator with solid presentation and writing skills
- Comfortable working in diverse teams across skill levels and disciplines
- Deadline-driven with a commitment to delivering quality results
