Our client in the agricultural industry based in Port Elizabeth (Coega) is currently looking to employ a Lab Analyst. This will be a contract position.

Main purpose of the position:

  • Carry out tours focused on food safety and hygiene.
  • Ensure the quality standards of the different processed products (clear, cloudy and specialties): compliance of physicochemical and microbiological parameters with the specifications of each client of Final Products and Process, respecting the guidelines of security and environment.
  • Carry out tours focused on food safety and hygiene.
Responsibilities:
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment (Titrino, refractometers, Scales, etc), and keep the records of that.
  • Prepare solutions for use in analyses, patterns, and others. Checks, maintains, and prepares drugs for use in the laboratory.
  • Carry out control of the process of product line that is in the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with internal work standards through training staff in line control letters, compliance with CIP processes, BPM verification and regulatory requirements.
  • Report internal and external results to internal customers, updating follow-up sheets in the database for the different raw materials sources.
  • Monitoring of product process and execution of blends in product line, supporting product processes (centrifuges, concentrators, etc.).
  • Monitoring the microbiology of the product process, leading the microbiology analyzes required by the client.
  • Ensure the representativeness and traceability of the samples collected for analysis.
  • Batch release for plant filling.
  • Follow and optimize the stock/ consumption of laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain 5s of the sector during the shift, comply with schedule and cleaning procedures.
  • Compliance with internal standards, GMP and GLP.
  • Contribute to the achievement of established objectives (production volume, efficiencies, savings, etc.).
  • Ensure the implementation, development, and compliance of the defined methodology.
  • Ensure that activities within the plant are carried out under the Safety, Health and Hygiene, Environment and Quality standards.
  • Ensure that the operation achieves the desired results.
  • Drive the culture of continuous improvement throughout the plant.
  • Raise awareness and prevent accidents.
  • Ensure the physical and mental integrity of our employees. Reduce the environmental impact caused by our operation.
  • Ensure compliance with the quality standards established by our customers.
Requirements:
  • Higher education as chemical technician (University Technician is better).
  • Microbiology courses.
  • Experience in basic handling of laboratory instruments.
  • Experience in Quality Control laboratories.
  • Experience in Microbiology laboratories.
