As a JET analyst, you will contribute to research, analysis, and project delivery across a wide range of topics related to the Just Energy Transition and energy financing. You will support senior team members in developing insights and recommendations for clients that include banks, investors, corporates, governments, and development institutions.
You will work under the guidance of a managing director and senior colleagues, contributing to both client-facing and internal research projects. The role provides an excellent opportunity to deepen your understanding of South Africa's evolving energy landscape and build a career in energy economics, sustainability, and development finance
Requirements
3-5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in research, consulting, banking, policy, or development finance.
Demonstrated understanding of energy transition, climate finance, or sustainability issues.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel and other data tools.
Excellent writing and presentation skills, with experience producing professional reports or research outputs.
A Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as economics, political science, environmental studies, engineering, or finance.
A keen interest in South Africa's political economy, development challenges, and the role of finance in driving sustainability.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key responsibilities
Conduct research and analysis on topics related to the Just Energy Transition, including policy, finance, and political economy aspects.
Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and client deliverables.
Collect, organise, and analyse data relevant to energy financing, climate policy, and related areas.
Assist in managing project timelines and deliverables.
Monitor policy developments, market trends, and stakeholder activities related to JET.
Support the production of Krutham's widely read research outputs, including JET briefings, reports, and commentaries.
Contribute to internal discussions, strategy sessions, and cross-firm collaborations.
Provide administrative and analytical support to senior researchers and project managers as needed.
