Luzuko Group is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented
HR Officer
to support the HR function across our group of companies. The HR Officer will be responsible for maintaining compliance with South African labour legislation, managing day-to-day HR operations, and assisting with payroll submissions. This role also involves reviewing and implementing HR procedures, maintaining accurate employee records, and providing remote HR support to our Cape Town and other offices.
Maintain and update employee files (digital and physical) in compliance with the
BCEA
and
POPIA.
Draft and issue employment contracts, confirmation letters, disciplinary notices, and other HR-related documentation.
Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding, ensuring that company policies and procedures are explained and acknowledged.
Maintain leave records and assist with leave approvals via the company's HR or payroll system.
Coordinate staff medical aid, provident fund, and other benefits where applicable.
HR Compliance and Policy Management
Ensure company policies and practices align with South African labour laws (BCEA,
Labour Relations Act
,
Employment Equity Act
, and
Occupational Health and Safety Act
).
Support Employment Equity planning and reporting requirements.
Conduct regular reviews of HR procedures, recommending improvements for compliance and efficiency.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes to legislation and advise management accordingly.
Payroll Support
Prepare and verify monthly payroll inputs (new joiners, terminations, leave, overtime, deductions, etc.).
Assist in payroll submissions to the accounts department.
Reconcile payroll reports and ensure accuracy of employee information.
Handle payroll-related queries from staff.
Employee Relations & Discipline
Advise managers and employees on disciplinary and grievance procedures.
Prepare documentation for disciplinary hearings and ensure proper adherence to company and legal procedures.
Maintain a fair and consistent application of the company's
Disciplinary Code
.
Support management in conflict resolution and employee counselling.
Performance & Development
Assist with performance appraisal processes and maintain appraisal records.
Support training and development initiatives across departments.
Track probation reviews and issue confirmation or termination notices accordingly.
Skills & Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
2-4 years HR experience in South Africa.
Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practices.
Experience with payroll systems (e.g.,
Sage Payroll Professional
) and HR software.
Excellent communication, confidentiality, and administrative skills.
Ability to manage tasks independently and support remote offices effectively.
