Houseman / All-Rounder - Luxury Private Estate - Hout Bay Cape Town
Our client, the owner of a luxury private estate in Hout Bay, Cape Town, is seeking a dependable, discreet, and service-driven Houseman / All-Rounder to support both interior and exterior household operations. This is a live-in role ideal for an experienced candidate with strong housekeeping, outdoor maintenance, and guest-service skills.
This position is open to local or foreign nationals who are legally eligible to work in South Africa.
The role will start as a fixed-term contract, with the intention to progress into a permanent position following a successful trial and evaluation period.
Description
The Houseman / All-Rounder will assist in maintaining a high-end private residence and guesthouse, ensuring immaculate presentation, smooth day-to-day operations, and exceptional guest readiness. Responsibilities include housekeeping, exterior care, operational support, and general assistance across the estate.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Support & Service

• Warmly welcome guests on arrival and departure
• Assist with luggage handling and guest needs
• Provide proactive, discreet service at all times
• Assist with breakfast and simple meal presentation
• Set up and clear both indoor and outdoor dining spaces

Interior Housekeeping

• Clean and service guest rooms, suites, bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas
• Change linen, make beds, and ensure 5-star room presentation
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, polish, and deep clean areas as required
• Manage laundry: washing, ironing, pressing
• Handle delicate items such as silverware, fine china, and crystal
• Monitor and restock cleaning materials and amenities

Exterior & Grounds Maintenance

• Clean and maintain terraces, decks, patios, walkways, and driveways
• Perform leaf blowing and removal of outdoor debris
• Clean pool areas, furniture, umbrellas, and outdoor decor
• Maintain outdoor dining and entertainment areas
• Empty exterior bins and manage waste areas
• Assist with light maintenance and promptly report issues
• Ensure all outdoor equipment is well maintained and stored properly

Operational Support

• Run errands, including shopping and household supply collection
• Assist with event setup and hosting when required
• Adhere to strict health, hygiene, and safety protocols
• Collaborate with the housekeeping team to ensure seamless operations

Contract, Salary & Benefits

• Salary: R20 000 per month
• Live-in accommodation:

• Newly built private flatlet
• Utilities included
• Start as a fixed-term contract, with the intention to convert to permanent
• 21 days annual leave
• UIF & PAYE handled by employer
• Preferred start date: 11 December - 10 January

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years experience in private residences, boutique hotels, luxury lodges, or guesthouses
• Strong housekeeping and grounds-maintenance abilities
• Excellent work ethic, reliability, and eye for detail
• Discreet, polite, humble, and able to maintain confidentiality
• Must be a local or foreign national legally eligible to work in South Africa
• Good spoken English
• No drug or alcohol abuse; no visitors or gatherings allowed on the property
• Willingness to complete a 2-3 week trial period
• Ability to work flexible hours, especially during peak periods
