Head Chef Opportunity at Kingsley's - Simon's Town

Take full command of a refined, high-performance kitchen

Kingsley's Restaurant is seeking a senior Head Chef to lead our culinary team with precision, creativity, and uncompromising standards. This is a hands-on leadership role for a chef who thrives under pressure, inspires excellence, and takes full ownership of kitchen operations.

Role Overview

You will oversee a two-shift kitchen team operating daily from:

- Morning Shift: 07:00-15:00

- Evening Shift: 14:00-22:00

(Maximum 45 hours/week)

Your responsibilities will include:

- Full kitchen leadership and staff management across both shifts

- Daily and weekly stock-taking, ordering, and balancing stock on hand

- Portion control, waste management, and purchasing accountability

- Impeccable presentation of every dish leaving the pass

- Enforcing cleanliness, hygiene, and staff etiquette at all times

- Food storage compliance and kitchen organisation

- Disciplinary oversight and staff motivation

- Daily reporting to the GM and Owner

- Upholding Kingsley's standards of refinement, pace, and perfection

Candidate Requirements

- Minimum 5 years senior-level experience in a high-volume, upmarket kitchen

- Proven ability to lead without oversight, with initiative and discipline

- Inventive, proactive mindset with a passion for culinary excellence

- Exceptional presentation skills and attention to detail

- Ability to drive and motivate staff to perform at peak levels

- Calm, focused leadership under pressure

Trial Period

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to join the team for one week to demonstrate skill, leadership, and alignment with Kingsley's ethos.
