A boutique safari retreat is looking for a HEAD CHEF
We are looking for a Head Chef who can translate the soul of the African bush into unforgettable culinary experiences. This 5-star retreat is known for its intimacy, sophistication, and world-class hospitality. Accommodating a maximum of 16 guests, they pride themselves in offering bespoke, authentic guest and culinary experiences. The kitchen team consists of only 2 other chefs.
Core criteria:

  • Culinary degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role in a 5* environment (senior sous chefs wanting to grow, can also be considered)
  • Outstanding leadership and team management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent hygiene and safety knowledge
  • Exceptional creativity
  • Fully computer literate - must be able to help with placing/receiving orders, stock takes, staff rosters, menu creation etc
  • Expert knowledge on food trends both locally and internationally
  • The ability to handle high-pressure environments
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Candidate must be willing/able to attend a 3-day on-site interview.
This is a live-in position - one room + en-suite. 6/2 leave cycle.
Salary: R16,5kpm. Provident fund, plus annual, tips, meals, and uniform are included in the remuneration package.
