Role Overview:
As Guesthouse Manager, you will oversee daily operations from breakfast service through early afternoon and ensure our guesthouse delivers seamless, high-quality experiences. You'll lead the on-site team (housekeeper, guest liaison), supervise property readiness, staff coordination, and guest satisfaction. This role is ideal for a proactive hospitality professional who thrives in a boutique setting and enjoys both guest interaction and operational oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
Breakfast Service Coordination:
Organise and oversee the morning breakfast service (with support from cook/housekeeper).
Ensure timely preparation, presentation, guest service, and satisfaction of breakfast
Operations & Team Supervision:
Oversee daily housekeeping of rooms and common areas, ensuring they meet guesthouse standards.
Check property readiness before each check-in (rooms, amenities, presentation).
Identify, report and coordinate with the property management team on maintenance issues.
Guest Experience:
Greet/interact with guests during the morning/early afternoon; address any requests or issues promptly.
Act as on?site liaison for guest communication team, providing real-time operational input.
Administration & Stock Control:
Manage linen and amenities stock levels, breakfast supplies, ordering and replenishment.
Maintain daily/weekly operational reports, housekeeping logs, guest feedback summaries.
Support guest communication team by providing accurate on-the-ground information for hand-overs and guest updates.
Requirements (Must-Haves):
Proven experience in hospitality / guesthouse / hotel management, preferably in a boutique or premium-segment setting.
Strong guest service orientation and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead housekeeping / property readiness / maintenance coordination.
Hands-on attitude - prepared to assist directly (e.g., breakfast service or guest interaction) when needed.
Organised, reliable, flexible (including weekends and public holidays) with early-morning start.
Legally eligible to work in South Africa.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
Experience on Cape Town's Atlantic Seaboard or similar tourism/hospitality location.
Familiarity with property management workflows (housekeeping/maintenance/guest liaison).
Basic understanding of stock control and reporting systems.
Working Hours & Employment Type:
Full-time, permanent.
Typical hours: Early morning start through to afternoon (exact start time depends on breakfast service schedule), including weekends and peak season flexibility.
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive salary
R20,000 - R30,000/month
(depending on experience) plus performance-based incentives.
