Group Reservations Specialist (fixed Term)

We are looking to recruit a fixed-term Group Reservations Specialist to ensure that reservations are maximized through the booking, daily follow-up and confirmation of reservations and thereby ensuring maximum room revenue for the Hotel.

Key responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to:

  • Plan daily schedule of work
  • Ensure all booking enquiries are dealt within a 12 24 hour turnaround time
  • Ensure all member specific tasks are accurately processed and completed. Such reports include rooming lists, handover, and daily banking.
  • Assist in achieving the monthly prescribed targets set by hotel management, in accordance with the hotels annual budget.
  • Create all bookings according to the procedures in Opera. Link correct corporate company/agency to bookings if applicable. Ensure detailed billing instructions added to the booking upon creation.
  • Update all channel bookings with the correct information as per the emails received.
  • Provide and maintain reports and records of all groups during stay and after departure, and follow up on any group inquiries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as running daily reports, e.g. the cancellations, bookings, or arrivals reports.
  • Effectively manage any escalated queries that arise within or in relation to reservations
  • Demonstrate a strong team support that exist in areas of responsibility and role profiles amongst co-workers.
  • Keep ahead of activities/offerings within the hotel as an opportunity to up sell experiences to guests, e.g., wine events, etc.
Requirements:
  • Matric
  • Hotel Management diploma or degree advantageous
  • Basic understanding of revenue management required
  • Understanding of how to implement yield management principles
  • Must have experience in similar position in a similar 4*/5* establishment
  • Basic accounting skills
  • Work various shifts when needed
  • Computer Literate, including MS Office and Opera previous relevant experience at 4* establishment
