General Manager required for luxury Boutique Guest House based in Sandton.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in boutique hotel or upmarket guest house management or a similar leadership role within the hospitality industry.
Advanced computer skills including Excel Reporting Skills
Hospitality Management Diploma
Own Car Essential
Valid driver's license
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management
Oversee the daily operations of all the hotel and spa, breakfast service, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance and the spa.
Ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the hotel and spa with attention to guest satisfaction, safety, and cleanliness.
Monitor inventory, order supplies, and manage vendor relationships for both hotel and spa.
Conduct regular inspections of rooms, spa facilities, public areas, and equipment.
Guest Experience
Ensure a personalized and exceptional guest experience throughout the guest journey (pre-arrival, check-in, during stay, check-out).
Handle guest complaints and feedback with professionalism, finding prompt and effective solutions.
Handle special requests (e.g., special occasions, early check-ins, late checkouts, room preferences).
Reservations:
Respond to guest inquiries and reservation requests via phone, email, online platforms, or in person.
Accurately input reservation details into the hotel's Property Management System (PMS).
Confirm, modify, and cancel reservations as required.
Update team daily with arrivals, departures, stay-overs and special requests.
Inform guests of hotel policies, rates, promotions, amenities, and local attractions.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of reservations.
Event Planning & Coordination
Meet with clients to understand their event requirements and to manage expectations.
Develop function sheets, and timelines for internal use.
Coordinate logistics including venue setup, food & beverage, decor, staffing, and access control and parking logistics.
Ensure all elements of the event are planned in alignment with the guest's expectations and hotel standards.
Oversee event setup and breakdown, ensuring timelines and specifications are met.
Maintenance
Ensure that the preventative maintenance schedule is followed on equipment, systems, and fixtures (e.g., AC units, lighting, plumbing)
Liaise with handyman to repair fix and faults promptly
Maintain logs and records of completed maintenance and service schedules.
Spa
Supervise spa staff.
Ensure compliance with health and hygiene regulations in all spa areas.
Monitor spa bookings, treatment quality, and guest satisfaction.
HR
Recruit, train, and manage a team of hospitality and spa professionals.
Schedule staff shifts, manage performance evaluations, and conduct regular team meetings.
Foster a positive work environment with high morale and low turnover.
Implement service standards and ongoing training for continuous improvement.
Submit monthly payroll schedule
Financial & Administrative Oversight
Monitor revenue and expenses across hotel and spa operations.
Send supplier invoices for timeous payment.
Update DEXT with all invoices timeously.
Petty cash management for both the hotel and spa.
Stock Ordering & Purchasing
Monitor inventory levels across all departments and generate purchase orders accordingly.
Ensure timely delivery of stock to avoid shortages or disruptions in service.
Maintain relationships with suppliers and resolve any supply chain issues or delays.
Conduct regular stock checks and full inventory audits (weekly, monthly, or quarterly).
Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO) to reduce spoilage and waste.
Marketing & Sales
Collaborate with marketing lead to promote the hotel and spa through online and offline channels, especially during off peak periods
Complete weekly marketing report and email to the marketing team
Update the 'leads' report continuously
