Forensic Investigator Assistant (Theft/Crime Scene)



Job Purpose:



Supports forensic investigators in the collection, documentation, and processing of evidence from theft and other crime scenes. Assists in lab analysis, maintains equipment, and ensures proper handling of materials under investigation.

Key Responsibilities:



Assist in securing and documenting crime scenes. Help collect, label, and preserve physical evidence (e.g., fingerprints, stolen items, trace materials). Maintain and clean forensic tools and equipment. Input case data and maintain accurate records and chain of custody logs. Provide administrative and logistical support to lead forensic investigators.

Requirements:



accredited SAQA NQF 5 qualifications in Criminal Theft /Crime Scene) Forensic Investigations. PSIRA registered, minimum grade C. Valid Code B drivers' license. least one (1) year theft crime scene investigations working experience. Basic understanding of crime scene procedures and evidence handling. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends if needed.
