Responsible for investigating theft-related crimes by collecting, preserving, and analyzing evidence from crime scenes. Works closely with law enforcement to reconstruct events and support criminal investigations.
Key Responsibilities:
Secure and examine theft/crime scenes to identify, collect, and preserve physical evidence (e.g., fingerprints, footprints, tools).
Photograph, document, and map crime scenes accurately.
Analyze forensic evidence in the lab (e.g., trace evidence, tool marks, DNA).
Prepare detailed reports and present findings to detectives, prosecutors, and in court.
Collaborate with law enforcement and other forensic specialists during investigations.
Requirements:
recognised and accredited SAQA NQF 5 qualification in Criminal (Theft / Crime Scene) Forensic Investigations.
Valid Code B drivers' license
PSIRA registered, minimum grade C
Knowledge of evidence handling protocols and criminal law.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
Previous experience in crime scene investigation preferred
three (3) years in theft crime scene investigations working experience
