Job Description


An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Export Controller within a food manufacturing company based in the Cape Town.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of all export documentation and relevant certificates of conformance and other certificates that will be required by our customers and destination customs authorities
  • Verification, approval and completion of export-related Letters of Credit, Bank to Bank reimbursements and amendments to ensure efficient collection of export proceeds
  • Assist to obtain all required export licenses required for each consignment, customer, and country
  • Close communication internally with Customer Service, Procurement, Production, Finance and Quality Control, whilst externally with customers, commercial banks, and freight forwarders
  • Evaluate and apply all new customs related requirements for exports on an ongoing basis
  • Obtain all relevant customs related certification documents
  • Check and coordinate with Supply Chain Department to establish an efficient export classification and prepare tariff schedule
  • Administer all freight logistics
  • Provide optimal level of customer service and resolve all shipment issues
  • Correct administrative duties to ensure documentation are available for future reference
  • Track all export shipments and forward weekly updates to relevant departments
  • Co-ordinate all 3rd party pre-shipment inspections of all outgoing cargo
  • Monitor and provide response to all customs inquiries and requests and obtain required product certifications for all export products for customs clearance
  • Ensure correct usage and the accurate usage of HS codes.
  • Review invoicing and related documents to ensure shipping, handling, storage charges and customs fees are billed correctly
  • Maintain an efficient customs rebate stores/ bond warehouse system and provide schedule for movements of the same to customs during audits
  • Execute different courses of action in general in accordance with instructions given by Management and the Supply Chain team
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary degree/diploma
  • At least five years work experience in a Supply Chain/Logistics related position in the Food and Beverage Industry, involving international freight forwarding, liaison with clearing agents and freight companies (road, sea, and air freight)
  • Must have exceptional knowledge and thorough understanding of Inco-terms
  • Must have thorough knowledge of customs rebate stores operations and documentation requirements
  • Good numerical and computer skills (SAP HANA S4 experience advantageous)
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Good organizational skills and able to create a structured environment
  • Own transport
