The degree of flexibility on this all encompassing role will include allocations dependent on skill set and areas that may fall in or out would be finance, legal and HR/people.Our client is a leading asset manager and specialist investment company which manages investments in an ethical and sustainable way. The company is dedicated to the development and empowerment of South Africa and its people, with many of their investment offerings geared towards a meaningful difference to their world.JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

• ou will be responsible for building scalable operational infrastructure; technology enablement; governance, risk and compliance; overseeing fund administration and middle office functions;
• You will be required to be a strategic thinker and operator with deep experience in asset management, particularly within fixed income, private credit and alternative asset classes, plus an ability to lead cross-functional teams and complex projects effectively;
• Operational leadership & strategy:

• You will be required to lead, manage or oversee end-to-end operational functions supporting the investment management and client functions;
• You will be responsible for all functions from investment middle- to back-office, business development & client services operations, legal, IT, enterprise solutions, enterprise risk management and human resources;
• You will be required to oversee the development and execution of operational strategies aligned with overall business goals and growth plans;
• You will be required to lead business continuity planning and operational resilience initiatives;
• You will be responsible for executive business strategy, leadership and management as part of the company's executive committee;
• Operational risk management:

• You will be required to ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks, and fulfilling all reporting requirements;
• You will be required to implement and maintain operational risk and control frameworks to mitigate operational and reputational risks;
• You will be required to drive operational risk management and process improvements;
• Process & technology optimization:

• You will be required to drive process automation, digital adoption and technology integration to enhance operational efficiency, reduce manual risk and improve both investment operations and client experiences;
• You will be required to design smooth operational workflows with clear integration points and responsibility delineation;
• You will be required to select, implement, and optimize portfolio management, trading and reporting systems with in-house teams and external vendors;
• Leadership & culture:

• You will be required to lead, develop and inspire a multidisciplinary operations team fostering a culture of diligence, accountability, innovation and continuous improvement;
• You will be required to enable an environment of trust, mutual accountability and performance focus with key stakeholder teams;
• Financial & performance management:

• You will be required to oversee operational budgeting, cost management and resource allocation projects, systems and teams in the operations domain;
• You will be required to establish and monitor key operational KPI's and metrics;
• Stakeholder & client management:

• You will be required to foster strong collaboration with portfolio managers, CIO and CEO and provide proactive strategic operational support to the investment team;
• You will be required to support business development and client services teams to attract and retain investor clients by delivering seamless client onboarding, reporting and operational support aligned with firm reputation;
• You will be required to proactive management of relationships with outsourced service providers (e.g. Curo), custodians, trustees and auditors.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• You have a MBA, CA(SA), CFA etc.
• You have system knowledge of CRIMS, Hiport and Infostore - this would be a distinct advantage;
• You have a minimum of 10 years' current, relevant experience in an operational leadership role within asset management or financial services environment; this is not a head of ops role this is a COO role - so it's a big meaty position
• You have an understanding of business processes within the asset management or financial services environment;
• You have the ability and experience in implementing operational projects successfully;
• You have the ability and experience in effectively translating business needs into process and systems requirements;
• You have experience in managing outsourced service providers;
• You have experience in leading, coaching and managing teams.
