The main responsibility of the Competence Manager is to contribute to the optimization of the flow of the Competence Development Process within our technical environment. This includes maintaining and securing the right resources to deliver on the competence needs required within the organisation to ensure our business goals and employee needs are met. From gap analysis through to planning, communication and follow-up, this work contributes to building a sustainable organisation where employees have the skills and the expertise to make a valuable and profitable contribution to the business. Manage a team of professionals to design and deliver training that supports the organization's strategy, values and goals, providing employees with the necessary tools and information required to complete their tasks successfully.Job Responsibilities Develop and implement a training strategy aligned with organizational goals, technology roadmap, and workforce needs.
Ensure there is a clear structure to define, implement and follow up Competence activities decided in the Business Plan
Drive cross departmental collaborative activities to ensure delivery of common business objectives, pro-actively address training needs requirements and ensure impactful delivery of training that is impactful and measurable to deliver business objectives.
Design and update technical training programs, including instructor-led, virtual, and e-learning modules.
Develop training materials such as manuals, job aids, e-learning modules, labs, video tutorials, and assessments.
Maintain an up-to-date curriculum aligned with new technologies, features, and industry standards
Establish and maintain training standards, documentation, and quality assurance processes, including training delivery are adhered to by the Technical Trainers.
Ensure that there is an organization and necessary resources, competence and facilities to fulfil and uphold set strategies and targets
Oversee scheduling, coordination, and execution of training programs.
Deliver high-quality technical training sessions to employees, act as SME in partnership with Services Department to deliver strong training competencies
Track and evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, surveys, KPIs, and stakeholder feedback.
+ Present regular reports on training impact, participation, and ROI to leadership.
+ Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance learning outcomes. Establish and uphold a meeting structure where competence needs are shared, managed, and information is exchanged
Lead, motivate and manage the team to deliver high-quality results
Coach individuals in the team on a regular basis, tailored to the individual need and focused on improving competence used in the daily work
Set Performance Objectives and individual targets for the team and follow them up on a regular basis
Work with Health & Safety to ensure a safe, secure and balanced work environment
Identify, consolidate and prioritise short and long term competence development needs, based on current business plans and market strategies, as well as individual development plans in P&G discussions
Create local learning portfolio considering existing offerings in global/regional catalogue
Implement the Quality Assurance programme for the Academy in line with the relevant SETA / QCTO requirements
Contribute to the internal marketing and communication plan for the Academy and use it to provide timely and relevant information to the business
Recommend and implement tools for digital learning, virtual labs, simulations, and certification programs.
Stay current on emerging learning technologies and best practices
Support new product releases and technology transitions with appropriate training.
Support technician certification, workshop service quality improvement, and service readiness for new and existing vehicles
Ensure that training facility and tools meet OEM specifications
Track Performance objectives such as certification rates, first-time-service quality metrics, and warranty claim performance.
Ensure compliance with health & safety standards
Actively participate in the annual budgeting process
Minimum Requirements:
Education and/or Experience
Qualified Diesel Technician or related trade
A Qualification in Management or related field
At least 3 years of experience leading and managing at team
Qualified as a Facilitator, Assessor, and Moderator by the ETDP Seta would be an asset
