The Wits RHI Key Populations Programme is supporting the Department of Health to create key populations-friendly health facilities
This position will improve the quality of clinical care at designated facilities in Gauteng through mentoring of clinicians offering services to key population members
Location:
Parktown, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
Mentoring of key population sensitization trainees
Contribute to the design of a mentorship program for facility staff who have completed key population sensitization and competency training initiated by other Wits RHI stakeholders
Liaise with Wits RHI, DOH, and other capacity development teams to address the mentoring needs of staff who have completed key population sensitization training
Provide ongoing mentorship in tailored services for key populations i.e., MSM, sex workers, transgender individuals, etc.
Support the provision of on-the-job training to ensure skills transfer and competency
Identify ongoing key population sensitization training needs of facility staff
Assess participant learning via assessment processes
Review individual developmental plans on a monthly and regular basis
Clinical mentoring
Identify and address gaps in clinical guideline implementation at the facility level in relation to key population services.
Support the implementation of 99-95-95 strategies to ensure service users are competent to initiate ART, manage and monitor viral suppression and retention in care for key population members on ART
Support the implementation of clinical guidelines at facility level through in-facility mentoring support
Provide clinical services to maintain expertise (Direct Service Delivery) and contribute to program priorities
Identify ongoing key population clinical competency training needs of facility staff
Support the facilitation of formal clinical training as required
Support clinical file reviews and audits to identify skills gaps
Regularly review audit results from facilities to identify skills gaps
Serve as a champion, coach, and expert in clinical quality improvement (QI) to ensure that the Programme effectively utilizes QI approaches, methodologies, and tools to achieve outcomes
Regularly monitor the implementation and progress of QI activities according to QI methodology
Self-management
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-management
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
Required minimum education and training:
Relevant Nursing Degree with SANC Registration (Professional Nurse)
NiMART Certified
Certified Clinical Mentor (NIMART, APC/PC101 and HTS)
Certified Assessor
Valid SA driver's license
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in Public Health and HIV Management
3 years' clinical training experience (HIV/TB/SRH)
2 years of clinical mentoring experience and experience in assessing learners
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
Experience working with key populations and sensitization to their socio-medical and psychological needs
Unquestionable respect and acceptance of sex workers, gender-diverse, and transgender individuals
Sound technical knowledge of HIV primary care services including TB prevention, STIs
Facilitation and Mentoring skills
Experience in/exposure to Gender Affirming Health Care (hormone treatment).
Knowledge of national and provincial health structures
Experience working in a donor-funded organisation/NGO or project-based environment
Qualification or experience in training, mentoring, project management, and quality improvement methodologies
Knowledge of clinical systems and data management and analysis
Exceptional organizational, administrative, and effective communication skills
Skills in Microsoft Office and Excel
Able to prioritize own workload and work towards deadlines
Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Able to speak African languages
Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
Excellent levels of written and verbal communication
Attention to detail and ability to problem-solve
Conflict management skills
Willingness to travel nationally
