The Wits RHI Key Populations Programme is supporting the Department of Health to create key population-friendly health facilities
This position will improve the quality of psychosocial services offered to key population members at designated facilities in Gauteng; support stakeholder engagement and community mobilization; and provide mentoring on key population sensitization to facility staff
Location:
Parktown, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
Contribute to the design of a key populations sensitization mentorship program for staff at public health care facilities operating as key population Centres of Excellence
Liaise with Wits RHI, DOH, and other capacity development teams to address the mentoring needs of staff who have completed key population sensitization and competency training
Provide ongoing mentorship in tailored services for key populations i.e., MSM, sex workers, transgender individuals
Identify ongoing key population sensitization training needs of facility staff
Support the provision of on-the-job training to ensure skills transfer and competency
Assess participant learning via assessment processes
Review individual developmental plans on a monthly and regular basis
Develop and manage referral protocol and network between the facility and the Department of Social Development (DSD), and support access to social grants and social support services in the community
Conduct various support groups, including but not limited to psychosocial support groups for people living with HIV, and ART and PrEP adherence groups
Initiate and conduct community outreach and community interventions to create demand for services and mobilize key populations
Optimise stakeholder engagement with key population lead CSOs, government departments, NGOs, and social service organizations
Conduct sensitization workshops with facility staff
Compile reports of the relevant program activities conducted
Attend meetings as required and provide feedback to the relevant parties
contribute to the development of standardized PowerPoint presentations for training purposes
Take ownership and accountability for tasks & activities and demonstrate effective self-management
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not met and provide appropriate means of resolution
Support and drive the business's core values
Take ownership of own career development
Manage stress in ways that do not negatively impact the team
Obtain and maintain a record of annual required CPD points as per SACSSP requirements
Maintain professional registration with SACSSP
Perform ad hoc duties as requested by line managers
Required minimum education and training:
Degree in Social Work
Required minimum work experience:
At least 5 years experience in Social Work practice, preferably in a public health setting
Professional body registration:
Registration with South African Council of Social Service Professionals (SACSSP)
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
Experience working with key populations
Experience working with peer educators/navigators
Certificate in basic HIV management
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Effective communication within a multi-disciplinary team comprising professional nurses, medical officers, community health care workers, and peer educators
Experience in a donor-funded program
Build sound relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
