Role Overview



The Business Development Manager (BDM) will drive Shaper's growth
strategy by identifying, developing, and securing new business
opportunities. Reporting directly to the CEO, the BDM will play a pivotal
role in expanding our footprint across corporate South Africa and the
broader skills development ecosystem. This role demands a strategic
thinker, relationship builder, and solutions-oriented professional who is

passionate about youth employment and workforce transformation.

Key Responsibilities



Identify and engage new business opportunities aligned with Shaper's growth goals. Cultivate strong relationships with HR, L&D, transformation, and compliance leaders. Sell learnerships, internships, training solutions, and consulting services tailored to B-BBEE and QCTO requirements. Develop compelling client proposals and pitch materials. Conduct client discovery meetings and needs analyses to co-create relevant solutions. Provide input into Shaper's go-to-market strategy and growth planning directly with the CEO. Track pipeline activity and report regularly on business development progress. Represent Shaper at industry events, expos, and client meetings.

Required Skills and QualificationsMUST HAVE



Minimum 3 years' experience in business development or consultative B2B sales, preferably in education, HR, or workforce solutions. Solid understanding of B-BBEE, Skills Development scorecards, and SETA/QCTO-aligned programmes. Strong negotiation and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to close deals and meet sales targets. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Preferred Attributes



Experience selling into corporate HR, L&D, or transformation teams. Knowledge of the South African education and training landscape. Entrepreneurial mindset and passion for impact-driven work. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
