Key Purpose
Within the Heath Benefit Solutions (HBS) area, a junior Business Analyst must work together with other Business Analysts to understand the overall business needs and requirements, documenting the requirements to a sufficient level of detail allowing the development team to craft a technical solution. The junior Business Analyst will also be involved in testing and validating the functionality of the technical solution against the business requirements. A Business Analyst in the HBS space must be technically minded and be able to understand basic development and data principles.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
The successful candidate will be required to perform but not limited to the following key outputs in respect of the HBS portfolio:
A junior Business Analyst must understand:
the system development life cycle and can explain the importance of the BA role in each stage
the distinction between business, functional and non-functional requirements
the differences between business requirements and business rules
the role of BA in supporting delivery of requirements from a technical and business perspective
the types of project approaches such as Waterfall and Agile
the principles of system and user acceptance testing and the link to requirements documentation
principles of project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies
A junior Business Analyst must be able to demonstrate that they can:
Assist in gathering business requirements
Scheduling stakeholder workshops / meetings
Perform basic data analysis and reporting
Assist with creating or maintaining documentation and / or specifications to achieve alignment and approval of the solution to be implemented
Develop cases, context diagrams and process flows to visualise and improve business processes.
Basic data configuration
Supporting testing and end user testing
Collaborating with cross-functional teams
Assisting with production issue investigation
Actively provide progress updates

Education and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification (BSc Computer Science or equivalent 3-year IT qualification)
UML course
1 to 2 years working experience in a professional environment (if no tertiary qualifications)
Knowledge of ITIL, CMMI, PCMM
Technical knowledge of SQL, UML, XML, OO
Knowledge of software architecture, facilitating JAD sessions, data modelling techniques, industry compliance and legislation.
