The bookkeeper plays an important role within the Finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and preparing reports that contribute to the financial health and operational efficiency of all stores. The Bookkeeper ensures timely reconciliations, compliance, and financial data integrity across multiple business units.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Financial Processing and Reconciliation for all stores:
Process and reconcile creditors (allocation/coding), cashbook, petty cash and credit cards.
Maintain and reconcile daily bank deposits and cash tracking.
Prepare and process payments/refunds according to Company process
Maintain monthly audit files and ensure completeness of documentation.
Perform bookkeeping up to trial balance, subsequently maintain management accounts from trial balance
Process and maintain accurate monthly journal entries including payroll, depreciation and general adjustments
Reconciliation and submission of VAT
Prepare and corroborate management accounts and follow up timeously
Maintain Food-Cost corroboration and follow up
Resolve all escalated queries (Cash or POS and expense) for all stores
Maintain Fixed Asset register including new builds, revamps & disposals.
Ideal Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualification with a degree being advantageous
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel
2-3 years bookkeeping experience, preferably in QSR, Retail and/or Hospitality industry
Proficient in financial reporting systems preferably Sage Evolution
Experience with GAAP Retail Office
