Role Description The purpose of the role is to develop, fabricate, install and maintain equipment according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications. The role reports to the Mechanical Foreman Roles and Responsibilities Attend to callouts with regard to mechanical breakdowns Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to maintenance requirements Maintenance repairs, fabrication and installation work on all Mining equipment Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and Company standards Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery in area of responsibility to the Foreman Remove and replace components to maintain steel fabrications. Develop, modify, construct and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activities performed and re-start of equipment Create and maintain job cards Conduct on-the-job training for allocated apprentices. Responsible for good housekeeping in working area. Work overtime, standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise Diagnose and repair faults on equipment and machinery during production/operation Refurbish/overhaul machines Execution of Maintenance task lists and completion of SAP works orders
Minimum Job Requirements Grade 12 or equivalent qualification related to the position. N2 Certificate. Qualified Boilermaker Trade Certificate through a recognised /accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience as a Boilermaker in a Vertical sinking shaft. Conversant with the requirements of Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996) Experience in maintenance of winding plants, conveyor belts and pumps will be an advantage Valid Drivers License Skills Required Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English Sound planning, leading and organisational abilities Good fault finding and diagnostic skills Good team leading skills able to motivate Familiar with Mining Process and Maintenance requirements of related equipment and structures Demonstrate the ability to assess work team and training requirements and implement programme for development. Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite)
