Job Advert Summary

The Workshop & Reserve Assistant supports the effective day-to-day operation and maintenance of the reserve by assisting with mechanical, workshop, and general reserve duties. This hands-on role contributes to the upkeep of vehicles, equipment, infrastructure, and reserve operations while ensuring safety, efficiency, and support to conservation and hospitality teams.

Minimum Requirements

Matric or equivalent Previous experience in a workshop, maintenance, or reserve environment (advantageous) Basic mechanical and maintenance skills Physically fit and willing to work outdoors in a remote environment Valid driver's licence (Code B)

Duties and Responsibilities

Workshop & Mechanical Support

Assist with servicing, repairs, and maintenance of reserve vehicles, tractors, and equipment Support basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and welding tasks where required Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards within the workshop Assist with stock control of tools, parts, and workshop supplies

Reserve & Maintenance Support

Assist with maintenance of reserve infrastructure, including roads, fences, water points, and signage Support general repairs and upkeep of staff accommodation and operational buildings Assist with bush clearing, erosion control, and general land maintenance Support conservation and reserve management activities as required

Operations & Logistics

Assist with loading, transporting, and handling equipment, materials, and supplies Support fleet care, including vehicle cleaning and basic inspections Report faults, damages, or safety concerns promptly Adhere to health, safety, and environmental procedures

Team Support & Compliance

Work closely with the Reserve Manager, rangers, and maintenance team Follow instructions, schedules, and operational priorities Ensure compliance with safety regulations and reserve policies * Promote teamwork, reliability, and a positive work ethic
