Job Summary WORKSHOP MANAGER PRETORIA . JOB REQUIREMENTS The ideal applicant will possess the following:- A minimum of Grade 12 (Std. 10) or equivalent academic qualification. Qualified Diesel Mechanic (other Artisan trade qualifications, SUCH AS Auto Electrical (not general electrical) and Artisan Body Builder). However applicants with these other two trade certificates, must also have general background experience on diesel mechanics , as theyll be responsible for Diesel mechanics as well. will also be considered). At least 5-8 years working experience in heavy duty vehicle maintenance. At least 2 years in a Management position . A post matric qualification in the technical / N4 engineering field will be a strong advantage. Proven track record in vehicle fleet management . JOB OUTPUTS Assist in managing the Technical Budget . Oversee maintenance to the vehicle fleet . Manage maintenance of facilities, tools and equipment . Control workshop tools and equipment . Manage Engineering Administration functions Supervise Workshop Personnel and identify developmental needs. Ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations are adhered to in the workshop Monitor Asset Register . Liaise with Manufacturers and Suppliers to ensure optimal service delivery. WORKING CONDITIONS Will be required to work long and late hours and sometimes over weekends and standby. COMPETENCIES KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ATTITUDE KNOWLEDGE - Knowledge of the passenger transport industry. - Knowledge of the Technical / Engineering practices and procedures as they relate to the operation and maintenance of a large fleet. - Understanding of the bus operations and the inter-relationship with the Technical department. - Knowledge of the Key financial management Principles & Procedures, especially budget management. - Knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures and related legislation. - Knowledge of the Labour Relations Act and associated company disciplinary and grievance procedures. - Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. - Knowledge of stock management procedures and stores management.
