Location: Cape Town (hybrid work model, with a minimum 4 full days in office - Monday, Tuesday , Wednesday, Thursday)

Core Hours: 09:00 am - 18:00 pm

Contract Type: Permanent

Role summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Windows Administrator and IT Support Specialist to join our team at Construct. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our Windows system and server network, ensuring the stability, security, and smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. You will provide technical support to both staff and back-end system users, troubleshoot system errors, and maintain the overall security of our network, manage the upkeep, build, and dissemination of hardware. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the stability, security, and scalability of installed Windows systems.
  • Collaborate with IT managers to discuss system and server upgrades.
  • Install or upgrade Windows systems and servers.
  • Provide technical support for staff and back-end system users.
  • Troubleshoot system and server errors.
  • Review system error logs and address user-reported errors.
  • Monitor and update the Windows codebase.
  • Manage user access and permissions.
  • Monitor system performance.
  • Maintain server architecture security and create system backups.
  • Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including desktop and laptop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, and phones.
  • Log all internal and external infrastructure and coordinate with remote employees.
  • Interact with application vendors and service providers to assist in troubleshooting and provide technical support.
  • Assist in disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation.
  • Perform routine/scheduled audits of systems and technology assets.
  • Develop and maintain reporting on incidents, failures, and ad hoc support requests with clear measurable Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Proven work experience as a Windows Administrator preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Ability to create scripts in Perl, Python, and similar languages.
  • Experience with databases, patch management, and networks, including LAN and WAN.
  • Familiarity with modern operating systems and server platforms.
  • Knowledge of network security systems, intrusion detection systems, and data backup.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good analytical and communication skills.
  • Hardware, networking, and web technology certifications and/or credentials.
