Job Description

Our client in the Manufacturing industry is currently looking to employ a Senior Field Service Technician (Welder) based in Johannesburg, East Rand.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with English and Mathematics, or an equivalent Technical Trade Certificate/ Welding qualification (advantageous).
  • Tertiary Trade Certificate (advantageous).
  • Valid South African Driver's License.
  • Valid Forklift License.
  • Proficient with hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to perform welding tasks.
  • Working at Heights certification (essential).
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Valid Risk Assessment certification.
  • First Aid Level 1 certification.
  • Scaffolding erection and inspection certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Junior Field Technician or Minimum of 3 years' experience in a technical, electrical, or industrial environment.
Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to:
Site Assessment and Preparation:
  • Conduct site inspections to determine readiness for installations.
  • Assess site requirements including power supply, steelwork, accessibility and tools.
  • Take accurate on-site measurements for upcoming installations.
  • Compile comprehensive "installation packs" with all necessary tools, parts and accessories.
  • Ensure compliance with customer Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Attend and arrange OHS inductions for team members.
  • Prepare detailed risk assessments for each installation site.
  • Maintain operational efficiency by ensuring correct tools and preparation.
Installation Duties:
  • Execute accurate and timely installation of all products.
  • Ensure that the assigned installation is completed in good time to
achieve excellent customer service. * Provide feedback to management on team efficiency and any site-related issues.
  • Take full responsibility for each assigned installation from start to finish.
Repairs and Maintenance:
  • Conduct site visits to assess repair and maintenance needs.
  • Perform fault-finding on breakdowns.
  • Repair, service and maintain all mechanical and electrical components of doors and docking systems.
  • Complete jobs correctly on the first visit to avoid delays or call-backs.
Quality Control and Commissioning:
  • Enforce strict quality control standards on all installations.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's process and product quality standards.
  • Professionally hand over completed installations to clients.
  • Ensure all handover documentation is provided and acknowledged (manuals, certificates, warranties).
Technical Knowledge and Problem Solving.
Work Environment and Equipment:
  • Keep all tools and machinery in good working condition; report any damage or losses.
  • Perform monthly vehicle checks using checklists to ensure tool inventory, cleanliness and roadworthiness.
  • Maintain clean, tidy, and safe working conditions at all times.
  • Inspect and maintain safety clothing and PPE monthly; replace or repair as needed.
  • Uphold full compliance with safety protocols.
